2011 Training – That’s A Wrap

The last Avery / Mutoh Car Wrap Training and Certification Program of 2011 came to an end accompanied by a torrent of compliments and good reviews, even if we do say so ourselves. After all, time flies when you’re having fun and building a skill that’s both creative and profitable. It’s all thanks to a training program which is revised! revised! revised!

Granted, signups were a bit slow in the beginning. But it was simply the calm before the storm since places filled up shortly after, and we even had to add an additional two classes to accommodate everyone.

Avery training and certification was taught by globally recognized wrap installer, Justin Pate, who ensured that courses were both engaging and that trainees learned the skills necessary to install vehicle wraps that are more durable and of a higher quality, in the least amount of time… It’s all about quality through perfection. And if you don’t believe us, then believe our students:

“You have helped us cut our installation time by more than 15%. Your techniques and tools have also boosted the quality of our work so much that we have become local legends. Rockin!”

“Hey Justin, just want to say thanks for everything. Especially the tips on materials… the going’s been a lot easier since. Keep it up!”

“I’ve tried a lot of things before to beat the recession, but this has been one of my best investments ever!”

There you have it. Training might be over for 2011, but you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve already started working on the 2012 course – it’s going to be awesome! We’ve already started arranging the schedule and are inspired to provide all course attendees with new content, more sponsors and, like always, great supplies and tools.

SEMA 2011 Highlights

It was a week to remember, folks. The SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association) show kicked off on November 1st and charged ahead for four days. And just in case you didn’t know, the SEMA show is held annually in Las Vegas where more than 2,000 exhibitors display their wheel, body kits, paint replacement tools & materials and more to over 60,000 local and international buyers – not to mention thousands of gawping visitors.

Avery Dennison’s booth featured seven product demos a day from two separate groups, DES (Designed & Engineered Solutions) and GRS (Graphics and Reflective Solutions). The crowds were thick, and just about everyone was asking for more details, more knowledge and more of the good stuff – an awesome show.

And that’s just what happened, with DES showing off their brand-new Nano-Fusion coating PPF (paint protection film) that’s already taken the market by storm with superb gloss, clarity and durability. In fact, it’s the only product technology that has a Lifetime Warranty. Pretty Impressive.

But the highlight came when GRS  demonstrated the Supreme Wrapping 900 (SW900) Series paint replacement films. Despite all the noise, you could hear minds getting into gear because, as you know, everyone loves a winner – even if it’s an idea, and everyone knows this idea is going to be good for business.

The 33 vivid stock colors were applied on their own and in different color and finish combinations to produce some of the most appealing (and super fast) cosmetic makeovers you’ve ever seen on a car. All thanks, of course, to Justin Pate who demonstrated his skill, and ensured some advanced bookings for our next training course at the same time (check out our schedule for more details).

Also on show was single layer film, which is simply overlaminate fused to the color layer to provide an instant color changing product destined to fly off shelves faster than they’re stacked up – good for shops without the converting tech, good for everyone.

However, this post won’t be complete without paying a bit of attention to clearcoat, cleaner, wax and care suppliers for graphics – basically everything that fall under ‘maintenance’. The sheer volumes on display were quite breathtaking and seems to indicate one thing: paint replacement is booming super fast. Take a look at the Instructional Bulletin 1.20 – Storage, Maintenance and Cleaning of PVC Films to see which products are recommended. If you plan on using anything else, just make sure you stay away from petroleum distillates.
